The Trinity Choirs have arrived in Wells, England! The Senior Choristers are worn out, sleepy, and ready to be not moving. They are in their rooms and heading for bed if not already asleep. And tomorrow, Monday, they will sing the first Evensong of the week. They no doubt will impress all who attend with their talented and beautiful singing!
For many of the Senior Choristers this trip was a first – first time flying, first time out of the country, and for many both of those. There were nerves, anxiety, and fear. There were those who would not have gone if given the chance. But they all got on a bus and then an airplane.
And that is when these young teenagers showed just who we are sending to represent us. They showed an unrelenting love to and for each other – supporting each other, helping each other, making sure EVERYONE made it to Wells. Even holding hands during takeoff. Many of these Senior Choristers started out as small children in our Choir programs. They have learned to sing at Trinity. They have also learned community at Trinity. And they have learned this unrelenting love that would not, could not, ignore those that were hurting.
Our choirs are singing in a Cathedral that is more than three times as old as our country or our church. Be proud of the singing that will occur this week. Be proud of who these young men and women are. And also be proud of your contributions to this group – they are who they are because they are part of us, Trinity Episcopal Church, Staunton.
