Trinity Church is blessed to have two organs, both built by Taylor and Boody Organbuilders. The main organ, located in the gallery and installed in 2000 is Taylor and Boody’s Opus 34, comprising 37 stops over three manuals and pedal, with mechanical key and stop action. The organ is heard every Sunday morning and for special services and concerts throughout the year. The case is made of solid walnut and has many rich and detailed carvings designed and executed by the craftsmen at the Taylor and Boody shop, in nearby Swoope, VA.
In 2023, Trinity purchased a continuo organ, Taylor and Boody’s Opus 91. The five-stop pipe organ is made of walnut, matching the main organ in the gallery. Additionally, the gorgeous carvings compliment those of the main organ and include a hummingbird, owl and cardinal. The continuo organ is a portable instrument that lives on the main floor of the sanctuary and allows for much flexibility and creativity. It is used to accompany the choirs when singing downstairs; it can be used as a solo instrument; and it works well in a large or small instrumental ensembles. We are grateful to the anonymous donor who initiated this project by giving a generous challenge grant and to many donors who responded enthusiastically and saw the organ to its fruition.
