Fourth Lenten Program: Care Packages for Service Personnel

Dear Friends in Christ,

We had such a fantastic potluck last night at Emmanuel!  We counted eighty of you who turned out to enjoy food, fellowship, and service.  Thank you for your amazing OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAdonations for our local food pantries.  Their clients will hopefully enjoy a spring full of flavor in the coming weeks!

Next week, April 2, we’ll meet at Trinity to create care packages for the men and women serving in the Armed Forces.  We’ll be hearing from Mark Tinsley who works as a military chaplain.

We ask that you bring a dish to share and items to contribute to the care packages such as:

Toothpaste
Deodorant
Razors (for shaving)
Shampoo
Soap
Nonperishable, non-liquid, “non-crushable” snack foods that won’t melt (e.g., Pringles Potato Chips, Jack Links Jerky, non-chocolate hard candies, etc.)
Magazines (various)
Books (various)
DVD movies (various)
Cards/Letters from kids back home (schools, churches, etc.)
Playing cards
Q-tips
Fingernail/Toenail clippers
Small Bibles
Small devotionals

We look forward to seeing you next Wednesday at 6 p.m. at Trinity!

  1. Wendy Brown says:

Is there a size restriction on hygienic products?

    • Deidre Jones says:

No there is no size restriction. But keep in mind that the majority of the service personnel are men so you may wish to buy gender neutral scents.
Let me know if you have any other questions! Thanks!
